Expectations for Love

Our (or my own, at least) expectations for love can never be satisfied through anything that can be offered in this world.

The difficulties I’ve traversed month have taught me that not only money is illusive and unstable (see Matthew 6:19-21 below), but ANYTHING that we put our heart and soul into, the investments we pour into and the expectations and desires of love we seek from this world, is unstable.  These cannot be wholly and continuously satisfying and are easily destroyed. And they hurt us too, oftentimes pushing us deeper into despair, because of the imperfections of this world and of Murphy’s law.

Matthew 6:19-21 New International Version (NIV)

Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

I post this post to remind myself to ALWAYS put my love, expectations, and heart in Jesus.  Always on the cross.  The more I do this the more different I feel from this secular world and some of the people around me… but… this is the only way for me to live… it is the path of life amidst all other roads leading to destruction.  So  I must keep on.  Jesus… I don’t have anything… I don’ t have anything… I don’t have anything… if I don’t have you.  Just You.
